Welcome - Embrace Nature With Us

Please click below to view our calendar. We have two camping areas available for use: the Cooper Road site, highlighted on the calendar in green, and the Walnut Tree site, highlighted in yellow.

The Cooper Road site is closest to the HODC entrance off Cooper Road. This camping area features a climate-controlled building with restrooms and electric, picnic pavilion with gas grill, fishing ponds, fire pit with benches, and large lawn for camping.

The Walnut Tree site is located off the dirt road section of Walnut Tree Road. This gated site is more primitive than Cooper Road, and features a picnic pavilion, fire pit with benches, portable toilet, and large lawn for camping. This site does not have electric or running water.

To reserve your camping area, please view the calendar first to determine availability, then request the dates and camping area (Cooper Road or Walnut Tree) by using our Contact Form. Please also indicate your time of arrival and time of departure.

Teachers need outdoor classrooms to make nature come alive for students. The Hazel Outdoor Discovery Center is a wonderful field trip destination for local schools.
- Allen Brown

With competition from television, video games, and the internet, we need places like the Hazel Outdoor Discovery Center to turn kids on to nature. The HODC is your kids' cure for nature deficit disorder.
- Carrie Samis
- Delmarva Environmental Educators Network

Richard Hazel has always been a friend of scouting. The Hazel Outdoor Discovery Center is a natural tribute to Mr. Hazel's love for children, scouting, and the outdoors.
- Kevin Les Callette
- Field Director, Boy Scouts of America

I strongly encourage all youth organization leaders to plan a trip to the Hazel Outdoor Discovery Center. There is no better place to encourage youth fellowship and appreciation for the outdoors than the HODC.
